August Club Event

Held Aug. 28, 29

August 28, 16 club members and guests met at the WalMart parking lot (near McCarran & 395 intersection) for the cruise up to Grants Pass, Or. Club members attending were: The Chaffers, Berg’s, DeMichele’s, Hargett’s, MacDougall’s, Milander’s, Pattinson’s, and the Wagner’s Many of the club even with a chance of showers, drove their classics. On the way, we met up with a motorcycle group, from Carson City, heading to Grants Pass, going on the Raft ride and even staying at the Riverside Inn.

We stopped in Mt. Shasta for lunch at Lilys Restaurant. The food was wonderful. At this stop Lloyd and Robin discovered they had a battery with an internal short. Changing a battery in a C4 corvette is a challenge. So off to Napa, shortly we were on the road again. We arrived at the hotel about 6:00 P.M. Time to relax.

10:00 A. M., Sat. everyone headed to the home of President Bob & Chris Hile’s to meet the Rogue Valley
Classic Chevy club members. What a warm welcome, there was quite a number of their members welcoming us as we drove our classics in the driveway. The array of brunch items served, was unbelievable, food everywhere in the kitchen. Hats off to all the chefs. We spend a most enjoyable afternoon viewing club cars, checking out the garages or just visiting. The hospitality of the club was much appreciated and will always remembered. This brunch was truly a highlight of the weekend. Butch presented Bob with a token of our appreciation, and Peggy DeMichele won the basket of chocolates in the raffle drawing.
Time to head back to the Hotel to prepare for the Hellgate jetboat ride. The sights from the jetboat were fabulous, The ride up the river proved a bit wet at times. The driver knew how to utilize the splash, and who he wanted to get wet and when. A few of us got drenched but everyone had a wonderful time. We then headed for an all you can eat and drink dinner. The BBQ ribs and chicken were enjoyed by all. A fun time was had by all.
Many thanks to Butch & Donna for organizing the fun-filled weekend.
